so happens i'm currently reading Murakami's "The Wind-up Bird Chronicles" which all starts with a cat gone missing..followed by a series of what i would call paranormal/mysterious events..
started reading murakami when weijean lent me her copy of Kafka on The Shore..wonderful books..awesome author.. his books are rly quite out of the box! i can never predict the storyline! though sometimes at the end im left with a puzzled expression, i may not understand the plot fully but still, a fresh and enjoyable read =D
been at the clinic these 2 days(wed&thur) volunteering at the back..yes, i finally started volunteering at the back again! haha this is gona be my plan for the nxt month or so..Mon, Tues: recep, Wed, Thur: volunteer @ back. It rly is quite interesting and i really have learnt a lot since i started out about a year ago. everyday i learn something new.
On wed, Dr heng did an amazing surgery, on this cat with a torn diaphragm..the incision all the way down the belly was so big! n robert had to keep bagging the cat while Dr heng stitched back the diaphgram, inflate-stitch, deflate-stop, inflate-stitch, deflate-stop & so on...could really see the lungs expanding n collapsing and the heart pumping away..fascinating! hahaha n though u might picture a very bloody image, i assure u that it was not at all..surgeries didnt turn out to be as bloody as i imagined. it only gets bloody if u cut a blood vessel..
yea, and today, i saw this rabbit which had scabies, castrated half a male cat(sherry did the other ball) and practicesd getting faecal sample.. =D
n while on the mrt home at the end of the day, i was reading my murakami again n this girl suddenly came n started talking w me abt the book..it was v unexpected bt pleasant =D it feels nice n warm when u can just have a pleasant conversation w a stranger on ur way home on the mrt..

been having an insidious bout of cough these few days and its getting on my nerves..
met up with nels n sherry for lunch at astons.. which was great n put me in a good mood but other than that, ive not exactly been in the best of moods.. after our late lunch, went home to spend time w my rabbits, my dogs, n poof! dinner time! there goes my day! doing, nothing.
such a lack of a sense of fulfilment in my life lately has been making me turn blue.. but now with CNY near the corner and about 1 mth left, i can't really commit to doing anything much.. work is quite out of the question, wanted to learn pilates/yoga but thats not gonna work out either in such a short time.. and i wanted to continue training for wushu but my mum has been against it.. and after taking such a long break, i dont know where to start.. i don't know what i want!
i mean, i can always volunteer and learn more things volunteering at the clinic when i'm free and bored. but somehow when i get to my free day, i just want to laze around. and when i do that, i get irritated with myself for being so lazy and useless!
lol on a happier note, ive been enjoying my books =D though i cant belive im reading 3 books at the same time..

poor Loki got sterilised ytd.. wahaha made me so worried! coz aft he came back home aft surgery, he didnt wanna move, didnt wanna eat anything at all, even though i offered him all his favourites! the last time my cousins rabbit got sterilised, even b4 it got home, in the clinic just 1hr aft he woke up he was hopping around n eating away happily alrdy.. yea! so when up to this afternoon Loki didnt wanna eat/move i got v anxious..
called up Dr WC at bedok, went to collect some painkiller jabs to give, vitamins and critical care powder to force feed.. LOL SOOO messy i tell u.. the liquid food was lyk splurting on the floor, loki was struggling, then he peed on me lyk THREE freaking times.. OMG!! so crazy.. wahaha
luckily this evening when i went to check on him n gave him some veg, he started eating! must b the painkillers doing their job, n the vitamins to boost appetite! =D what a relief!! ive grown so attached to this lil bunny ill miss him so much when im in sydney!
he's so smart u noe.. i overlooked the fact that he couldnt hop into his litter box... so he actually went to my toilet to pee n poo u noe! so cute! haha he peed at the shower area.. so v easy for me to clean.. jus wash it all down.. i was so amazed.. smart rabbit!
yea, wonder whats gona happen to him when i leave. i hope my mum doesnt bring him down to mix w the other 4 rabbits! they dun even noe their names! if she does that, when i come back from sydney, loki wont even noe his name, wont recognise me at all alrdy! n ill b SOOOO sad okie! too bad my dorm doesnt allow pets, else ill seriously consider flying loki over to sydney w me..
young and innocent loki
ahhh.. im gona start packing my room! first- my wardrobe..

oooomg i m so happy today!!! DESPITE having splurged away probably a months worth of hard earned moneyy, DESPITE having eaten a double scoop ice cream cone AND lots of other junk food, i am so thoroughly SATISFIED!!
went to colour my hair w xinni at papilio first, n then we headed on our shopping spreee!! =D
i dun even wanna count for sure how much i spent today. but it would probably be around 350-400 bucks at least.. damn!
that jap icecream from marina is just awesome! i had green tea & dark choc icecream in cone.. happy factor: 10 out of 10!! was literally uncontrollably SMILING n eating my icecream all the way! only when we stood up, did we realise we were freezing cold! so me n xinni went into zara w hidden agenda.. we sincerely went there to shop n look thru clothes bt also to get jacket to warm outselves up.. HAHA we jus grabbed a sweater each n wore it around the store while looking at clothes till we were warm enough then put back =X luckily nobody realised! hehe!!
i TRIED soooo many clothes n we walked almost all the shops in raffles & marina.. so TIRED by the end of the day! n we sat down finally to have dinner at Breeks(one of my new fav places)
anw, we settled our this yrs bday presents for each other too!! WAHAHA how convenient n spontaneous! so......today i bought a LBD frm miss selfridge, a jap-design top frm zara, 2 dresses frm hula&co. , 2 shorts frm a random shop in marina, and a belt from fourskin.. lyk WOW! and i alrdy DID my cny shopping b4 this.. LOL! incorrigible! but nowww, i have MORE choices for my cny! i only need to choose 2 sets of clothes n KEEP THEM ASIDE! best i hide them.. hahah then the rest i can start wearing any time i want alrdy
im piling up more things on my table day by day now, really gotta start packing up soon! mayb ill erm shop around some more tmr.. hahaha! im in the moood! (to spend money)
hmm, n my dad wants me to get another laptop.. he thinks its btr i get one that im more confident using.. LOL (thank gdness!) he'll take over my macbook to use i guess.. hahaha coz he says if anything there not compatible, etc etc, then i'll hav trouble w my macbook n i wont noe how to make it work.. a normal(not apple) laptop wouldnt have that many compatible/not compatible problems.. phew! but all the same, i have ZERO affinity with computers/laptops/anything that has to do with technology. so i foresee myself having computer problems all the same! (pray that i'll have gd frens there who're IT whizzes!) hehehe!
im still hunting for a pair of heels! LOL..n just looking around for other nice things to buy.. wahaha! but i shalll... NOT give myself any budget to stick to tmr.. coz i wont follow..if i see sth nice n WORTH buying, ill indulge.. dun go shopping w me if u're on a tight budget! hahaha i'll tell u to just BUY, sure won't help u to save money ah...
thus ends my happy day..

I'm thoroughly satisfied today
first, went running w dickson in e morn at ecp.. i think we covered about 8-10km! shiok! the last time i ran was in august 2008, for the nike human race. after that, i injured my heel again so had to stop running haha! my doc gave the okie to start running again, but take it slow he says.
then later in e afternoon went to e airport to welcome weijean back home! too brief! coz she had to go home n i had to go to the night safari to volunteer! bt was nice to finally see her again! haha..we'll meet up soon! im sure theres LOTS of catching up we need to do!
night safari was as normal, i was pretty sian today so i just slacked! by 8.40 i decided i dun wanna guide anymore so i just walked through the souvenir shops with my friend. lols. im so lucky! i saw this BIG environmentally-friendly-grocery-bag kind of bag there i wanted to get, so i asked the sales woman how much it costs. she told me 5 bucks. so i decided to buy it later when i signed out n collected my bag. so when i went back, it was a man at the counter, n i asked him if i could get that bag, he just gave it to me n say its free! wahaha! im so happy! i think its coz he's the store manager or sth like that, i read his name tag! hehe! saved me precious 5 bucks!
tmr its chill pill breakfast at starbucks n Australia with yiting n fangs =D
im organising 4b cny reunion dinner at my house on 24th jan! so exciting! coz its the 1st time im even organising an event! i hope its a success! wish me luck!
Friday, January 2, 2009 ( 11:33 PM )
today was DHS Homecoming!

huazhou!
we miss u shirong!

yiting & i
2C classmates
my beloved 4B!
after that had a nice n chill afternoon with xinni (finally she has time! what a miracle!) and watched ghost whisperer tgt at my house.. then went to east coast lagoon to meet up with class one ppl to celebrate joannes bday.. Happy Bday Joanne! =D
( 1:00 AM )
went to haf tacos at zhen yi's place today with yao n mei =D i lyk mexican food! the bean paste is so shiok!
okie then our elaborate plan to cheer grandpa up! father's side cousins, xt xy, andy mich, my family n yuping they all gathered at grandpa's house this afternoon to visit him n to set up CNY decorations! we did up the deco in record time la.. just 30-45 min.. haha i think he was really happy to see us today, though i bet he's still confused abt the mini gathering we had today.. like why all of a sudden, out of the blue we come visit him
coz we havent visited him in a looong time! since last yr's CNY in fact. theres language barrier leh, his accent is so strong its so hard to decipher, i don't understand what he's saying. N my dad's side family upbringing is abit weird, i feel. all of them are quite cold. don't really feel the warmth and love of family. they(my dad n uncles) dont celebrate my grandpa's bday even though he's a ripe old age of 90 plus, n they say my grandpa doesnt like celebrations. but even if he doesnt like celebrations, wont it be quite unfilial not to even get together to have dinner or sth on his bday? sorry but i quite disagree with such a notion, or in other words, a lack of initiative.
i mean, yes, my grandpa is a very very successful career man, big boss of his own company. He's still working now leh! even though he's 90 plus yrs old! i really admire him for that! but doesn't he feel neglected and lonely? his kids dont even care about him. but they say he doesnt need all the fussing about. who really knows? i find it hard to believe. and i feel that my grandpa leads quite a mundane life.. ok not mundane exactly. he has his own business, he supports his kids, and grandkids, he donates money to charity to build school in china. but he doesnt take a break in life to learn new things, enjoy the good life, u know what i mean? hang out with friends, stuff like that. he's such a workaholic! he also doesn't seem to be very open to change. well, okie i understand to a certain extent la, coz his generation is very different form ours. so if hes more traditional n wants everything done the way it was done in the past, its fine. haha but does he not get sick of it? food wise, decorations wise, etc. is he bored? i'm so curious to find out. but he doesnt seem to like talking much, n i cant communicate with him. so, yea.
i just dont understand how a person like him can stand life like this? just work work work. his family is like, no family like that leh. lonely, boring, un-fruitful. does he have a bucket list?
hehe. im the kind that likes changes. i get bored easily. i need excitement in my life and i like to try new things. (except dance. NO dance for me) i wanna go sky-diving, mountain climbing, bungee jumping, i wanna see the world, go backpacking, learn new things! n when it comes to the day i die, i would have many stories to tell, and no regrets. so far, ive ever represented singapore at youth wushu cships b4, n though its just a minor comp, at least i had the experience! the whole experience of being IN the team, training overseas, going for competitions! =D and in 2008, i got my driving license(though im too chicken to drive), DIVING license, tried horseriding lessons too! went holidaying in egypt, b4 that was south africa in 2007. and also, all the volunteer work in the zoo, the night safari, the clinic. very rewarding and i learnt a great many things. working in underwter world was quite interesting too!!
when i get to sydney, i shalll look for new activities to keep me busy, continue to "collect" new experiences, have more stories to tell next time =D
itchy hands. i feel lyk writing something soon. its a busy week!
my one n only new yr resolution is to lose weight by actively finding time everyday(almost) to exercise, have a healthy diet and to be happy =)

MY FAVOURITE THINGS
Rise and shine my dear, my darling,
Sunshine through the window, birds are calling.
Awake from your sweet, sweet slumber,
Your day awaits, with many new wonders.
Cactus plants on your windowsill come to life,
Growing with vigour, they greet you with feist.
Fluffy white clouds sail across the sky,
Look up, look out, as love comes cruising by.
Wear a bright coloured top and your favourite scent,
Matched with a smile and your ribbon headband.
Carry with you some laughter in your heart,
For a little joy would bring you some luck.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafts through the air,
Tempting, tantalising, drawing you close unaware.
A soy cappuccino in your left, an old book in your right,
Spend some time with yourself; blow some bubbles, fly a kite.
Sounds of the sea come together like a melody,
Notes played on the piano, a perfect rhapsody.
Dreamy weekend filled with my favourite things,
And peace fluttering by on white dove wings.
Rise and shine my dear, my darling,
Sunshine through the window, birds are calling.
Awake from your sweet, sweet slumber,
Your day awaits, with many new wonders.

Sounds of the sea come together like a melody,
Notes played on the piano, a perfect rhapsody.
Dreamy weekend filled with my favourite things,
And peace fluttering by on white dove wings.
MOON
A pearl glowing luminous in the dark.
Beautiful. Tragically lonesome.
Tear drops glistening as i looked up.
Tragic. Lonesomely beautiful.
Disco ball spinning amidst parties of stars,
Glitzy, smoky, mysteriously enchanting.
Spotlight glaring down on an empty stage,
Naked, forsaken, enchantingly mysterious.
Outside my window, the night sky loomed.
Inky, somber, ominous, enigmatic.
DARK.
Dark against the pearl, my tears, disco ball, spotlight.
As i lust after the pearl so coveted,
I brush away tears undiscovered.
Drifting along under flashes of the disco ball,
I'm shrinking away from the spotlight where i used to belong.
My moon, so bright, perfectly round tonight.
My heart, heavy. Filled with thoughts of you inside.
Your heart, so light, perfectly sound this night.
Your moon, my moon. Our moon.
Your heart, is now her heart. Sweethearts.
My moon. I'll moon. Over you tonight.
my little tribute to the full moon tonight n the mysteries it brings. for what power the quiet night has, that tugs on heart strings, stirring emotions and letting loose inspiration.
MISSION P.C.
“Sssh!” The coast is clear! Sam and Joyce, heartbeats thumping with excitement, miniature drums beating furiously against their chests, hid behind the door of the room. Yet in the background of the heavy rhythm of the drums, there was the hint of laughter, a giggle perhaps, faintly chiming in the midst of all the commotion.
They were on an important mission. Top secret and highly classified. Stealth, speed and skill were the key factors. They had to initiate the machine- technical expertise was called for. Grasped tightly in their fists were the precious artefacts, which they could not afford to forget.
The matriarch had left the premises about 5 minutes ago and the girls had got into their positions without much haste. Silence filled the room, with the exception of that incessant drumbeat and the imperceptible flitter of glee. The curtains were left undrawn, blocking out much of the sunshine from the outside world. In the dim-lit room, the musky smell wafted by each time they inhaled. It smelt of old lacquered wood mixed with that distinctive smell of fresh paper, dappled with a pinch of a metallic scent- ink, they gathered. The machine sat solemnly at the other corner of the room, enticing, anticipating the girls’ next move. So calm and composed it seemed, patiently waiting for something to happen, like the calm before the storm.
The time for action had come. There was to be no delay. They had to get to the machine, activate it, fulfill their task and retreat, leaving no clues behind of their presence, all before the matriarch returned.
“On the count of 3! 1… 2… 3!” Joyce scurried over to the corner of the room, taking cover behind the machine as Sam followed behind, light-footed and nimble, after shutting the door behind her quietly and deftly turning the lock. Nobody had seen them. Good. For how dangerous and risky this was, with the door being slightly translucent. They had succeeded in securing the room. Now all they had to do was to complete their task and retreat.
The drumbeats faded slowly. Having done this before, Joyce took the lead, guiding and instructing Sam as she went along, activating the machine. With the push of a few specific buttons, a green light blinked on and the machine whirred to life. A cheeky grin smirked on their faces, still balled up in their fists were the artefacts. The giggle in the background began to grow louder, their hearts lighter.
Joyce gingerly lifted the lid of the machine, delicately placing the artefact from her hand onto the glistening panel, smoothening it out. She had to make sure the artefact was placed exactly within the specified margins or the plan would not work. After double-checking that everything was in place, she shut the lid with silent confidence. Sam stood close, observing carefully and learning the procedure for it would be her turn next. With a steady finality to it all, Joyce then pushed the big green button. The machine beeped and started to move, scanning the artefact across from one end to the other. Then, with a sudden burst of energy, it began to chug. Slowly at first, then picking up speed, its rhythm most peculiarly irregular yet hypnotic.
The giggle rose up like a bubble and broke as Joyce gave a little quip. It looks like her task was almost completed! Just as abruptly as it started, the chugging stopped and the machine gave out a loud beep, announcing that its job had been done. Breaking into a smile, lips curling upwards to reveal her teeth, Joyce reached out for the document that slid out onto the tray. As she laid her eyes on the result of her meticulous planning, rumbling laughter erupted from her little body as she held it up proudly with both hands, displaying it for Sam to see. Sam doubled over, clutching her stomach. She could hardly believe what she saw. It was like magic! Sam could not help but join in the throes of uncontrollable laughter and celebration of her sister’s success.
There, imprinted on the stark white sheet of paper, was the unmistakable, most humouring thing of all- the perfect print of her favourite snoopy panties!
Joyce and Sam laughed until tears began to form in their eyes as they repeated the process, Sam enthusiastically trying out her first shot at this.
Then came the screeching of the main gate and the grumble of the matriarch vehicle. She had returned. Each holding about 2-3 copies of warm and crisply printed paper in their hands, Sam and Joyce quickly snatched up their prized possessions and “certificates of achievements”, flipped the power switch to OFF, putting the machine back to sleep and dashed out of the study room. In a flash of motions, they quickly stashed the evidence in the secret compartment in their closet and rushed to the living room, plopped themselves on the sofa, turned on the television and acted like they had been watching Powerpuff Girls this whole time.
Still giggling intermittently at the outrageous adventure they just had, it was perfect timing as the main door clicked open and in stepped the matriarch. “Hi, Mom!” Both girls called in that coyly sweet voice of theirs, plastered on their faces were the “ innocent-puppy-eyed” expressions.
With a nod of approval, their mummy dearest carried her bag of groceries to the kitchen and Sam and Joyce let loose their infectious but final bout of laughter. With a high-five to seal the deal, there was nothing more exhilarating and satisfying than a task well planned and executed. What more was there to say, other than- MISSION PANTY-COPY ACCOMPLISHED!
