managed to get up early this morning to go jogging at 7am! wahaha great accomplishment! when i got up at 6.30AM i was greeted by an awesome view from my window so i had to take a picture of it!

wonderful girls day out today! had bfast at macros w abby & elisa n then headed to chinatown to buy some groceries n shop around.. i bought a $10 radio! and a colourful floral top for just $15..everywhere having sales! =D yup. i got my TV today from Jane too! but there arent many channels to watch on tv n so far, all the tv programmes are dead boring -.-" hahaha coz no cable tv.. boo.. better than nothing though! hehe
yesterday was the camden visit as part of our vet sci faculty orientation.. we didnt get to rly go inside n see the farms coz we aren't vaccinated against Q-Fever yet.. speaking of which, is some weird aussie disease that spreads from animals to humans.. schools gonna have us go for vaccinations before we begin working with those animals from wk 6 onwards.. anw, some photos of Camden..

school starts on monday! i'll be seeing more of that doorway from next week onwards i guess! hopefully i dun start to hate it!
nights are boring! okie so after we came back from chinatown, i set up my tv, i bleached my patchy-dyed white top back to white, and i cooked dinner(only edible by me-don't ask what i cooked, i have no idea either), and.. was BORED again! lols you'll never guess what i decided to do next.. wahaha i began by cleaning my table, and proceeded then to wash/scrub all the walls in my room! now they're sparkling clean and WHITE!! =D feeling damn satisfied coz cleaning is SO not my thing most of the time.. hahaha yea, thats how bored i was!!

ytd was suicide attempt.. today it was fire alarm (on campus-vet fac) LOL so we got to see fire engine come in today.. in the end i duno for what! but there wasn't any fire visible! haha
another day of nothingness! im very thankful for having abigail & elisa with me over the last 2 weeks.. don't think i've made any other really close friends other than them! haha i realised that the ang mohs usually tend to mix around themselves(aussies, americans, etc) and the asians will bond tgt hahaha
this morning went to check out the wushu place that guo jiao lian recommended.. its pretty good actually! the training grounds is actually a hall in a school, and theres a wushu carpet too! the atmosphere there is quite homely.. ppl are friendly, and yes! most of them can speak chinese- i think? at least some of them ah hahaha so my chinese wont be like shit when i get back! =D
then, went for SUV BBQ n met some more international students.. but generally, the asians will stick tgt n the ang mohs stick to themselves...its hard to break into each others circles la.. yea.. met more nice ppl n found a girl who can be my good jogging partner! about the same pace/stamina.. yays!
n then met up with Jane..near queen vic. building.. for a korean dinner.. yummy kimchi!! talked abt our course.. n yea, im mentally prepared to have a tough uni life! LOL i think its fun but tough/tiring.. but its rly quite daunting..im getting the jitters!
and my parents are leaving tmr.. abit scary coz i'll really b on my own.. haha though i was getting a lil tired of the nagging alrdy, but still.. it is different when they aren't here for moral support LOL. nvm! at least i've got my 2 aunts if anything happens.. can count on them also..n all the friends ill make here too.. =D
just hope i dont get homesick! HAHA dun wanna be loserish n fly back in july! lols. will enjoy my uni life here for sure.. i mean.. i will make sure that i will enjoy my uni life here.. must learn to be independent, self-sufficient, self-entertaining, n make myself happy!!

today was yet another busy day.. woke up early in e morning planned to go jogging w elisa but the sky was GREY n weather forecasted a storm (?!!) so we didnt take chances.. hahaha went to Hoochie Mamas for bfast..
ohman! the portion was HUGE! i had some toasted muesli + yoghurt + poaches peaches.. its HEAVEN but i was SOO full after i wanted to puke... wahaha!! didn't wanna waste my $8.90 !! hahaha n i did laundry, vacuumed my floor, packed my room a bit..
then afternoon we went jogging for 30min around campus.. we got back to SUV just in time.. 3 min after we stepped into our buildings, it started POURING outside.. lols
cooked greenbean soup in my room this afternoon.. was a terror!! the hot plate kept making the water in the pot bubble so strongly it was splattering all over the table and on the hot plate itself, making it sizzle.. but it turned out okie in the end! hehe!
n at night, went to aunty layhong's place for dinner, tgt w aunty lay lian.. n ZOMG.. i was soooo impressed n awed by their apartment!! its pure LUXURY man! haha.. the view is amazing, post-card perfect! if not for the weather-the sky was grey! there are windows lyk everywhere in a classy-open-concept- way and a balcony too! it overlooks the entire sydney harbour, including the sydney bridge and sydney opera house! you know pictures of the sydney new yrs eve fireworks over the opera house/bridge?? YES! EXACTLY THAT VIEW! i wont mind staying in sydney for new yrs eve to watch fireworks from their apartment seriously!! HAHA A-STAR SEATS!! =D

lols n Nicole Kidman stays in that estate too!! lyk WTF!! hahaha but yea, my aunt's partner is a wonderful cook! they used to own 2 restaurants around sydney! yummy food! =D they're really nice ppl considering the fact that i've only seen them a FEW times b4 on CNY but never rly known them at all. they dont always come back for CNY and they're my other grandma's side. haha!

my first post frm SYDNEY! =D actually i really kinda like it here..so far the people i've met are all very nice(this is going to be very overused now) and friendly.. and my room is SMALL but COSY n NEW n NICE. hahaha
the last few days have been shit busy! im up on a saturday morning at 7AM, now, taking a breather. its finally time for a break! ME-TIME! haha.. we had international students orientation the last few days, which involved boring but necessary speeches/information sessions for two days! well, we went for a guided tour around sydney too! =D
i like the sydney uni campus! theres a mix of rly old buildings n new buildings which kind of blend tgt in the whole "diversity" theme that i would like to think they have, considering the fact that there really are many international students ( i duno what im talking abt alrdy)
anyway, yea! theres broken-down-old kind of old-Vet Faculty =( and the vintage-harry-potter-kind of old-faculty of arts(yea y m i not surprised) hahaha but its really very pretty!!
i had to apply/settle many admin matters, join some clubs, make MANY cards.. now i already have, 4 cards(i think), one bus pass, and 2 more cards coming my way by mail next week! hmm it sucks that internet here is charged by bytes, not minutes i miss broadband!
im typing in random bursts coz im quite disorganised now.

the past few days have been CRAZY..meeting up with people AND packing! i kind of like this coz suddenly everyone has time to meet me!! LOL but that aside, i know i will miss all my friends, cousins, relatives too! V day was 4B Love & Family Love day.. my relatives came over for dinner(farewell dinner?) n it was v v warm n homely..awww.
hahaha n packing was SUCH a chore!! im so thankful im ALMOST done! phew! didnt noe my room had SOOO much junk here there n everywhere.. im such a karang guni! lols.. among the many many things im packing, some are really quite far fetched! LOL but i dun care.. i want to feel at home & comfortable when i am there.. hahaha n i have altogether 80kg baggage allowance (coz both my parents r coming over for 1 wk with me) i'll just bring whatever i can bring.. the more the merrier (for now but not when i have to move house in future)
among some of interesting things im bringing, i have, RIce cooker, Induction Hot Plate, Pot, Iron, Table Lamp, my Comforter, Pillow, Bolster..etc. wahahaa mostly courtesy of my mum

redcliff 2 was quite exciting! more so than i expected, coz my mum n i didnt get past the 1st disc of redcliff 1 vcd.. the fighting scenes were really good n zhu-ge liang is so so smart! im very amazed with him haha..
n then at night, FINALLY went to the hort park/henderson waves place with eunice, nikki n dr ang =D its reallly quite pretty leh.. with the lights n all but i dun think there are really that many plants..i imagined sth lyk botanical gardens-treetop style but ya..not that many flowers.. but the city scape from the bridge is breathtaking.. its abt 6 stories high? yea, so the scenery is beautiful! i think its better to go in the evening/night when its not so hot! last time i tried to find the place w another friend, we ended up getting lost n just walked down mt faber to vivo in e end LOL n it was morning, n so sweltering HOT! e baking-in-e-oven kind of hot.. zomg.
oh my! so much is happening these dayys.. i cant even remember what i've been doing exactly..
on sunday, we sent verna off at the airport..waaa! next monday is my turn! verna damn calm n cool lo.. haha i hope i dun emo ah! anyway, plane rides abt 8 hrs! (didnt noe it took so long to get to sydney!) following which, we(Vjc friends) had a coffee bean breakfast n chit chatted =D im beginning to feel closer to them..haha (i rly take DAMN long to rly warm up to ppl)
then, i just set up my skype account n skyped with my dearest SHIRONG! all the way from Illinois..awww.. i missed her la! e wonders of skype, seriously, im so impressed with it (ok im v suaku) hahahaha but its so awesome n its FREE.. omg.. its such a good tool to keep in touch w ppl! esp across countries.. LOL gotta get my bro to teach my mum how to use skype! our 2010 Florida plans are starting to take shape! i cant wait!! v excited but at e same time totally DREADING e plane ride.. gonna b freaking long! haha bt it was good talking to shirong again! should do this more often!!!
hmm, watched bride wars w jean & val today..movie was quite funny! but i think at times we were the only ones laughing aloud in e cinema hahaha we r all happy children!
haiya! n i realised i gained alot of weight! soo fat =( but damn lazy to exercise! oh man! since when did i become such a couch potato!! LOL my journey to becoming FIT again will b a long n ardous one for sure, considering the sorry state im in now.. hahaha!! i shall REALLY start my healthy living plans tmr (i lost count of how many times ive said this alrdy!) wahaha its lyk always starting "tmr" but "tmr" never comes! THIS time, its for real....MODERATION shall b my motto.. haha n i'll do it for health reasons.. i realised now that im not so fit anymore, i get tired climbing stairs, i get bad cramps, im getting lazy! n my shorts r getting tighter(shit la..damn sad u know) =( so yea, mus start getting fit again!
wahaha my goal is that when i come back from aussie i'll be fit again!!!! i've got one year to train myself back to "fit-as-a-fiddle" ..it'd better work out somehow! i dun wanna get diabetes/kidney or liver or heart problems/cancer in future when i grow old!!! i need to find an exercise/running buddy while im there! alrite, fighting zzz monster is really secretly tiring! next few days is going to be so hectic!! im kinda scared!

last night went to watch the curious case of benjamin button w my cousins.. its a really interesting show! n i LOVED it..no spoilers but i really thought they worked it out very well in e end! i wanna watch again! it was a really long movie but it didnt feel draggy =) LOLs in short, im all praises for benjamin button!

that day i was walking to the bus stop n passed the big car park next to my house.. n spotted these awesome vintage cars! that car park is really happening lo! at night sometimes theres some sports-car enthusiasts gathering or sth, coz there r days where i see up to about 10 sports cars parked together? then when i sleep late at night, usually on wkends i will be able to hear sounds of them drifting..we actually spotted them drifting too! one of the CNY days when we went over to my cousin's house (just opp mine) pretty awesome
now this is the 2nd time im seeing vintage cars in this car park.. but the last time they were here v early in the morning too! n they rly are quite something! hardly see these kinda cars nowadays..must b collector items..had no idea that singaporeans had this type of hobby too!

CNY reunion gathering at Joanne's house followed by Shijie's house was a success.. they r just opposite block from each other! how convenient for me! hehe! but now im sick of steamboat..haha..had steamboat for dinner at jo's place then again steamboat for lunch at shijie's place..time jus flew by thru the night at jo's place, as we played bridge all the way from 12 midnight to 6am.. we didnt even realise it!! thats quite..scary when u think abt it..LOL all of us were abit hysterical towards e end, anyhow play anyhow bid.. so funny!
shijie's mum is soo cute! but she make us damn stress leh! keep telling us to eat more eat more, must finish all the food ah.. OMG! haha first time i felt so stressed eating u noe.. bt at e same time v amused too! slept a total of 3 hours only but im still wide awake now!

vet fac orientation today was alright.. played some team-bonding kind of games etc but the mood was pretty sian -.-" tmr will be better at least! we'er going to the camden campus to see the farm n animals! hmm sad to say, the timetable is more or less correct.. for the 1st month it will be abit slacker-fri is actually half day.. but from 2nd month onwards, it will b full blow! hmm worry about that when the time comes la
i cooked pasta for myself n abby in my room just now for dinner! im quite satisfied w myself wahaha! pasta i can cook.. damn easy.. boil veg, cook pasta, pour ready-made sauce over, microwave.. LOL idiot proof. not lyk my failed steam egg the other day.. i gona try it again tmr WAHAHA..
SUV's having some major party downstairs tonight ..masquerade ball..LOL only ang mohs attended.. so now im slacking in my room again.. quite sleepy actually! chilli padi from my pasta is still making my stomach feel warm n nice hahaha
another thing i like here is the nectarines! seldom ate them when i was in singapore but here its quite common so yup! another favourite fruit! wahaha nectarines, plums, apples =D
im having muscle aches now!! lol i feel satisfied n accomplished wahaha.. that i managed to exercise ALMOST everyday over the last wk.. shiok! n im starting to feel more independent now.. like i COOK! orientation in usyd today was alright.. it was lyk a carnival kind of thing with all the clubs setting up their stalls on campus, colourful n lively n full of freebies!!
thats abby&me! and by the way, i still think our university campus is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! =D
had SUV thai dinner but i regretted it coz we were the only 4 asians there! the rest were aussies n americans n it was quite awkward coz everyone else was talking among themselves n i felt very out of place.. it was SOO noisy i was getting a headache haha.. n they drink a lot too!! EVERYONE was drinking wine cept us.. they really drink a LOT .. like 3-4 full glasses each!
lol and next thing that happened was so drama! when we got back to SUV, there was this girl crying hysterically and trying to jump off the top of our 4-storey student apartment building!! lyk WOAH! big hoo-hah and some guys managed to restrain her n got her off the ledge and called emergency(which by the time he called was not emergency alrdy coz the girl was alrdy off the ledge).. so there came the ambulance and police, sirens blaring.. still don't know what made her want to jump anyway! but from 4th floor, no way was she going to die..break a few bones maybe! STILL, im glad it didnt happen! it would be traumatizing if i saw the horrid end of that saga.. talk about drama.. and school hasn't even started yet!!
sigh..im really starting to miss all my friends back in singapore!

the last few days have been shit busy! im up on a saturday morning at 7AM, now, taking a breather. its finally time for a break! ME-TIME! haha.. we had international students orientation the last few days, which involved boring but necessary speeches/information sessions for two days! well, we went for a guided tour around sydney too! =D
i like the sydney uni campus! theres a mix of rly old buildings n new buildings which kind of blend tgt in the whole "diversity" theme that i would like to think they have, considering the fact that there really are many international students ( i duno what im talking abt alrdy)
anyway, yea! theres broken-down-old kind of old-Vet Faculty =( and the vintage-harry-potter-kind of old-faculty of arts(yea y m i not surprised) hahaha but its really very pretty!!
i had to apply/settle many admin matters, join some clubs, make MANY cards.. now i already have, 4 cards(i think), one bus pass, and 2 more cards coming my way by mail next week! hmm it sucks that internet here is charged by bytes, not minutes i miss broadband!
im typing in random bursts coz im quite disorganised now.

the past few days have been CRAZY..meeting up with people AND packing! i kind of like this coz suddenly everyone has time to meet me!! LOL but that aside, i know i will miss all my friends, cousins, relatives too! V day was 4B Love & Family Love day.. my relatives came over for dinner(farewell dinner?) n it was v v warm n homely..awww.
hahaha n packing was SUCH a chore!! im so thankful im ALMOST done! phew! didnt noe my room had SOOO much junk here there n everywhere.. im such a karang guni! lols.. among the many many things im packing, some are really quite far fetched! LOL but i dun care.. i want to feel at home & comfortable when i am there.. hahaha n i have altogether 80kg baggage allowance (coz both my parents r coming over for 1 wk with me) i'll just bring whatever i can bring.. the more the merrier (for now but not when i have to move house in future)
among some of interesting things im bringing, i have, RIce cooker, Induction Hot Plate, Pot, Iron, Table Lamp, my Comforter, Pillow, Bolster..etc. wahahaa mostly courtesy of my mum
alrite, now i need to tidy up my spare things n finish off the last part of packing.. so that i'll have an easy day tmr =D

redcliff 2 was quite exciting! more so than i expected, coz my mum n i didnt get past the 1st disc of redcliff 1 vcd.. the fighting scenes were really good n zhu-ge liang is so so smart! im very amazed with him haha..
n then at night, FINALLY went to the hort park/henderson waves place with eunice, nikki n dr ang =D its reallly quite pretty leh.. with the lights n all but i dun think there are really that many plants..i imagined sth lyk botanical gardens-treetop style but ya..not that many flowers.. but the city scape from the bridge is breathtaking.. its abt 6 stories high? yea, so the scenery is beautiful! i think its better to go in the evening/night when its not so hot! last time i tried to find the place w another friend, we ended up getting lost n just walked down mt faber to vivo in e end LOL n it was morning, n so sweltering HOT! e baking-in-e-oven kind of hot.. zomg.

oh my! so much is happening these dayys.. i cant even remember what i've been doing exactly..
on sunday, we sent verna off at the airport..waaa! next monday is my turn! verna damn calm n cool lo.. haha i hope i dun emo ah! anyway, plane rides abt 8 hrs! (didnt noe it took so long to get to sydney!) following which, we(Vjc friends) had a coffee bean breakfast n chit chatted =D im beginning to feel closer to them..haha (i rly take DAMN long to rly warm up to ppl)
then, i just set up my skype account n skyped with my dearest SHIRONG! all the way from Illinois..awww.. i missed her la! e wonders of skype, seriously, im so impressed with it (ok im v suaku) hahahaha but its so awesome n its FREE.. omg.. its such a good tool to keep in touch w ppl! esp across countries.. LOL gotta get my bro to teach my mum how to use skype! our 2010 Florida plans are starting to take shape! i cant wait!! v excited but at e same time totally DREADING e plane ride.. gonna b freaking long! haha bt it was good talking to shirong again! should do this more often!!!
hmm, watched bride wars w jean & val today..movie was quite funny! but i think at times we were the only ones laughing aloud in e cinema hahaha we r all happy children!
haiya! n i realised i gained alot of weight! soo fat =( but damn lazy to exercise! oh man! since when did i become such a couch potato!! LOL my journey to becoming FIT again will b a long n ardous one for sure, considering the sorry state im in now.. hahaha!! i shall REALLY start my healthy living plans tmr (i lost count of how many times ive said this alrdy!) wahaha its lyk always starting "tmr" but "tmr" never comes! THIS time, its for real....MODERATION shall b my motto.. haha n i'll do it for health reasons.. i realised now that im not so fit anymore, i get tired climbing stairs, i get bad cramps, im getting lazy! n my shorts r getting tighter(shit la..damn sad u know) =( so yea, mus start getting fit again!
wahaha my goal is that when i come back from aussie i'll be fit again!!!! i've got one year to train myself back to "fit-as-a-fiddle" ..it'd better work out somehow! i dun wanna get diabetes/kidney or liver or heart problems/cancer in future when i grow old!!! i need to find an exercise/running buddy while im there! alrite, fighting zzz monster is really secretly tiring! next few days is going to be so hectic!! im kinda scared!

havent been sleeping much lately! actually quite tired la..but then again, time is the most precious right now, so i dont wanna waste my time on sleeping! LOL if we all didnt have to sleep at all, our day would b so much more productive! =D
last night went to watch the curious case of benjamin button w my cousins.. its a really interesting show! n i LOVED it..no spoilers but i really thought they worked it out very well in e end! i wanna watch again! it was a really long movie but it didnt feel draggy =) LOLs in short, im all praises for benjamin button!
one week left! chiong to meet ppl! wahaha n SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY!

while roaming around parkway today, i chanced upon this very interesting stack of notes! or rather, checklist.. i think its the perfect thing for gg away.. something small n simple with much thought in it =D i think im going to buy another packet of this coz im using it up very quickly! i will give it to my friends n get them to fill up for me too! wahaha then ill keep it till when i get back to singapore then ill pester them to do all the things they checked on the list with me! total brilliance! wahaha im gona send one to dear shirong in illinois too! hehe

that day i was walking to the bus stop n passed the big car park next to my house.. n spotted these awesome vintage cars! that car park is really happening lo! at night sometimes theres some sports-car enthusiasts gathering or sth, coz there r days where i see up to about 10 sports cars parked together? then when i sleep late at night, usually on wkends i will be able to hear sounds of them drifting..we actually spotted them drifting too! one of the CNY days when we went over to my cousin's house (just opp mine) pretty awesome
now this is the 2nd time im seeing vintage cars in this car park.. but the last time they were here v early in the morning too! n they rly are quite something! hardly see these kinda cars nowadays..must b collector items..had no idea that singaporeans had this type of hobby too!
anyway, i did stop to take a picture of the cars! =D

OMFG!!
i was just writing down in my diary book the dates im supposed to meet up with ppl n it just hit me like a big fat yellow truck..IM FLYING OFF IN TWO WEEKS TIME!!
ahhhh i thought i had a month! LOL..now its 2 weeks?! im scared now =( n sad too..2 weeks left to spend w my family, my Loki, my friends.. n the next time i'll see them again will b in december..like 10mths later! goodness gracious! haven't really felt it for the past few weeks yet, but yes.. NOW i'm feeling it..
theres so many things to do..so many things to pack, so many ppl to meet! n its gonna be sad! i was excited to start school n all but yea, now im more scared to leave everything behind..
ohno, if i continue typing abt this im going to get incoherrent. CHANGE TOPIC!
erm.. CNY reunion gathering at Joanne's house followed by Shijie's house was a success.. they r just opposite block from each other! how convenient for me! hehe! but now im sick of steamboat..haha..had steamboat for dinner at jo's place then again steamboat for lunch at shijie's place..time jus flew by thru the night at jo's place, as we played bridge all the way from 12 midnight to 6am.. we didnt even realise it!! thats quite..scary when u think abt it..LOL all of us were abit hysterical towards e end, anyhow play anyhow bid.. so funny!
shijie's mum is soo cute! but she make us damn stress leh! keep telling us to eat more eat more, must finish all the food ah.. OMG! haha first time i felt so stressed eating u noe.. bt at e same time v amused too! slept a total of 3 hours only but im still wide awake now!
n after getting that big fat JOLT of realisation... i really think i wont be able to sleep tonight..dang!

Wear a bright coloured top and your favourite scent,
Matched with a smile and your ribbon headband.

For a little joy would bring you some luck.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafts through the air,
Tempting, tantalising, drawing you close unaware.
A soy cappuccino in your left, an old book in your right,
Spend some time with yourself; blow some bubbles, fly a kite.

A pearl glowing luminous in the dark.
Beautiful. Tragically lonesome.
Tear drops glistening as i looked up.
Tragic. Lonesomely beautiful.
Disco ball spinning amidst parties of stars,
Glitzy, smoky, mysteriously enchanting.
Spotlight glaring down on an empty stage,
Naked, forsaken, enchantingly mysterious.
Outside my window, the night sky loomed.
Inky, somber, ominous, enigmatic.
DARK.
Dark against the pearl, my tears, disco ball, spotlight.
As i lust after the pearl so coveted,
I brush away tears undiscovered.

I'm shrinking away from the spotlight where i used to belong.

my little tribute to the full moon tonight n the mysteries it brings. for what power the quiet night has, that tugs on heart strings, stirring emotions and letting loose inspiration.

“Sssh!” The coast is clear! Sam and Joyce, heartbeats thumping with excitement, miniature drums beating furiously against their chests, hid behind the door of the room. Yet in the background of the heavy rhythm of the drums, there was the hint of laughter, a giggle perhaps, faintly chiming in the midst of all the commotion.
They were on an important mission. Top secret and highly classified. Stealth, speed and skill were the key factors. They had to initiate the machine- technical expertise was called for. Grasped tightly in their fists were the precious artefacts, which they could not afford to forget.
The matriarch had left the premises about 5 minutes ago and the girls had got into their positions without much haste. Silence filled the room, with the exception of that incessant drumbeat and the imperceptible flitter of glee. The curtains were left undrawn, blocking out much of the sunshine from the outside world. In the dim-lit room, the musky smell wafted by each time they inhaled. It smelt of old lacquered wood mixed with that distinctive smell of fresh paper, dappled with a pinch of a metallic scent- ink, they gathered. The machine sat solemnly at the other corner of the room, enticing, anticipating the girls’ next move. So calm and composed it seemed, patiently waiting for something to happen, like the calm before the storm.
The time for action had come. There was to be no delay. They had to get to the machine, activate it, fulfill their task and retreat, leaving no clues behind of their presence, all before the matriarch returned.
“On the count of 3! 1… 2… 3!” Joyce scurried over to the corner of the room, taking cover behind the machine as Sam followed behind, light-footed and nimble, after shutting the door behind her quietly and deftly turning the lock. Nobody had seen them. Good. For how dangerous and risky this was, with the door being slightly translucent. They had succeeded in securing the room. Now all they had to do was to complete their task and retreat.
The drumbeats faded slowly. Having done this before, Joyce took the lead, guiding and instructing Sam as she went along, activating the machine. With the push of a few specific buttons, a green light blinked on and the machine whirred to life. A cheeky grin smirked on their faces, still balled up in their fists were the artefacts. The giggle in the background began to grow louder, their hearts lighter.
Joyce gingerly lifted the lid of the machine, delicately placing the artefact from her hand onto the glistening panel, smoothening it out. She had to make sure the artefact was placed exactly within the specified margins or the plan would not work. After double-checking that everything was in place, she shut the lid with silent confidence. Sam stood close, observing carefully and learning the procedure for it would be her turn next. With a steady finality to it all, Joyce then pushed the big green button. The machine beeped and started to move, scanning the artefact across from one end to the other. Then, with a sudden burst of energy, it began to chug. Slowly at first, then picking up speed, its rhythm most peculiarly irregular yet hypnotic.
The giggle rose up like a bubble and broke as Joyce gave a little quip. It looks like her task was almost completed! Just as abruptly as it started, the chugging stopped and the machine gave out a loud beep, announcing that its job had been done. Breaking into a smile, lips curling upwards to reveal her teeth, Joyce reached out for the document that slid out onto the tray. As she laid her eyes on the result of her meticulous planning, rumbling laughter erupted from her little body as she held it up proudly with both hands, displaying it for Sam to see. Sam doubled over, clutching her stomach. She could hardly believe what she saw. It was like magic! Sam could not help but join in the throes of uncontrollable laughter and celebration of her sister’s success.
There, imprinted on the stark white sheet of paper, was the unmistakable, most humouring thing of all- the perfect print of her favourite snoopy panties!
Joyce and Sam laughed until tears began to form in their eyes as they repeated the process, Sam enthusiastically trying out her first shot at this.
Then came the screeching of the main gate and the grumble of the matriarch vehicle. She had returned. Each holding about 2-3 copies of warm and crisply printed paper in their hands, Sam and Joyce quickly snatched up their prized possessions and “certificates of achievements”, flipped the power switch to OFF, putting the machine back to sleep and dashed out of the study room. In a flash of motions, they quickly stashed the evidence in the secret compartment in their closet and rushed to the living room, plopped themselves on the sofa, turned on the television and acted like they had been watching Powerpuff Girls this whole time.
Still giggling intermittently at the outrageous adventure they just had, it was perfect timing as the main door clicked open and in stepped the matriarch. “Hi, Mom!” Both girls called in that coyly sweet voice of theirs, plastered on their faces were the “ innocent-puppy-eyed” expressions.
With a nod of approval, their mummy dearest carried her bag of groceries to the kitchen and Sam and Joyce let loose their infectious but final bout of laughter. With a high-five to seal the deal, there was nothing more exhilarating and satisfying than a task well planned and executed. What more was there to say, other than- MISSION PANTY-COPY ACCOMPLISHED!
