went to the park again on friday, this time w elisa n nanako to chillax n also to play in the playground!! felt like we were kids again!! =D its ONE of my new favourite place now, its a place where i can really REALLY relax! i love swings!! felt like a kid again this wkend! hehe!! i know i'm alrdy 20 but i seriously think i don't act my age at all, don't ask me if thats a good or a bad thing, coz i don't know! its really quite daunting to think that soon im going to be an adult-ADULT like after 21? geez, n will have to go to work, have to make my own decisions, ohwell! HAHA, till then.....

we all look so happy dont we!

rly was v happy today, going out n not having any plans/purpose, just deciding on the spur of the moment, n shopping, n sightseeing(?), exploring the place rather. i felt like a tourist! coz i havent really explored darling harbour n harbour side n george st very much till now! i had no idea darling harbour was so near chinatown? HAHAHA! abby n i were rly happy happy kids today n we both think it was de-stressing, relaxing, and liberating!!! vet students should do this more often, if not we'll all go crazy, seriously!
my laptop is going bonkers..

when u are overseas for 4 mths at a go, living in a room that is not really your room, having to think about what to eat each day, having to do ur laundry, having to learn how to be happy alone, having to study-by study i mean study hard coz just passing is not enough, because my sch fees are 40,000 a yr, there is no way that just passing will suffice. and when u have to constantly tell urself to be brave and be strong n slowly count down the months till u go home, while telling ur mum that you're happy n u're fine coz u dun want her to worry.

had a rly relaxing n peaceful sunday morning..finally tried doing what i always said i would do one day..
got up bright n early at 8+am n went to Victoriaa Park to chill..v gd weather today!! sunny n cool =) got a coffee, chose a nice spot under a tree in front of the pond n read some Murakami, with Bella's Lullaby playing on my ipod.. n just enjoy the day and watch the ducks n birds.. n then i decided to draw a picture! wahaha though my art isnt goood, its goood effort! ya! i felt so... calm n refreshed or something, i cant find the right words to it yet.. but im gonna make sure i do this more often in future!
walked around braodway abit n aft that accompanied yh to chinatown to buy some stuff...helped to carry some groceries n took a walk back home.. that was how i spent my lazy sunday from 8+am to 4pm =D gonna have to study for tmr's dissection prac before bones start at 8.30pm
pictures i took along the way n at the park..

“Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.”
George Eliot
this was from shirong n it is oh so true =)
adding to that above, they love you back, they comfort you, they make you happy, and they do it unconditionally.
getting better with abby's medicine XD (finally!) i get so cranky when im sick..thus making me a not-so-nice person to hang out with..heh!
tmr's sunday n i have nothing to do! with the exception of having to study for dissection prac (yes again!)
i wannna go to a theme park n sit on alll the rides!!! sydney only has one SMALL one! maybe next wkend? i shall go bug my friends to go with me! HEHEHE! =D

talking about things to do, i remembered that i bought a stack of these b4 i flew off n made some of my dear friends fill it in! LOL i filled in for them too..it seemed quite fun then..wahaha! i should take them out n have a look at what my dear friends saiid they'll do with me hor! more often than not, we will talk/DREAM about doing this n that together, of how fun it would be.. but when im back home, everyone is rly just too busy to do any of those things, carrry out our plans for real or even just to meet up.. wahaha not that im being bitter.. i understand how its always so busy in singapore.. even during holidays, everyone is always busy somehow, OR the weather just makes it difficult to make things happen and it saps away your energy like that *SNAP*! n it just makes things difficult..BUT!!! its still just a matter of priority right? if its important enough to me, i'd go all out to make it happen, if it means ponning sch for 1 day or whatsoever..but thats just me..
wahaha life is short!!! n theres lotsa things we HAVE to do before we get old! sometimes we get too caught up in our own little world, too concerned with our little problems(im guilty of that too)! i think i've/we've all got to learn how n when to take a step back, take a look at the BIG picture.. coz "what we see before us is just one tiny part of the world. the real world is a much deeper n intriguing place than this n most of it is occupied by jellyfish & things. people tend to forget that." -Haruki Murakami, i think it was in The Wind-up Bird chronicles? or Kafka on the Shore, i can't rmb.. time to revisit the old books, been a while since i enjoyed a good book.
its good to have ideas and have something to look forward to though =) i started my list of things to do when i get back to singapore alrdy.. this time i will have 3 months! im gonna make sure i check off every single one of those things on my list! =D
i hate being sick, esp when im overseas. makes be tired, eaily-annoyed, moody, quiet, emo, whatsoever. now i know having a blocked nose rly sucks! it gets hard to breathe, ur sinuses get clogged, ur head aches dully. clarinase seems to be working a bit, but doesnt seem v effective =(
took a nap this afternoon aft gg out to buy groceries w the girls.. hopefully ill b gd enough to go to the gym w them tmr morning! =) supposed to be working on my assignment now..but not very productive
don't know why, i do miss home n my family n friends and all, but i just dont feel like talking to my mum online. i know she wants to talk to me but i rly do get quite irritated sometimes, n i have no idea why! n i feel very guilty for feeling that way and i don't want to hurt her feelings too. i can't explain it.
i think last sem was better than this sem at the moment. last sem we were all happier n more relaxed, or stressed out together. wahaha this sem the stress is not the actively-stressing kind of stress.. its like.. passive n silent stress LOL m i making any sense at all? or mayb the right set of words is consciously stressed n unconsciously stressed.. yea.. n its only the 1st month.. haha.. 3 more months to go ah!
haha okie i should quit complaining n get back to work
it really is quite odd how we never rly notice the plants around us.. there are all those big colourful flowers that will catch our attention or some big n weird looking tree or fern that we will rmb but we never notice the small weeds and grasses growing amongst their more outstanding neighbours.. well! today we looked at plants in a different way and hmmm!! i think i have a new appreciation for plants now!!
first there was agronomy prac.. where we had to look under the microscope, draw flowers, label the parts.. seemed v familiar, think we did this in sec sch or jc? haha but not as proficiently for sure.. under the microscope, the little parts of the florets, the anthers n stigmas n all, they were really fascinatingly beautiful! we had to slowly open up the spikelets to get to the florets and then open up the florets to see the insides.. i was surprised cuz the florets were pretty flat!! had no idea that the 2 layers could be separated..n that there could be stuff in it!
such a relaxing n enjoyable prac for a change.. the demonstraters were really helpful! LOL one of them was called FLORA..how apt right! me n my friends were quite amazed w the flowers..n we were the last to leave u noe! wahaha! inquisitive and enthusiastic students for a change..others finished earlier n left. it isn't graded so yea, you could jus leave early if u wanted to.. many vet students (including us) felt rather incredulous that we had to study agronomy (yea, most of us do not like plants) as part of our course n thought it was a waste of time initially. now i changed my mind! looking fwd to the next agro prac =D
Gen brought us around sch during lunch time to pluck some plants for our plant press assignment.. quite cool.. coz there were some kinda small n cute lil things that i have never noticed around the sch b4! and she knew all their names n where to find them LOL so smart! next yr i shall do that if i help my yr 1 friends..HAHA and i found this v cute plant/weed that i liked v v much n even though it cant be used in our assignment and i dont know its name, but i decided to pick it n make a plant press of it too! i'll take a picture n post it when my plant press is done.. it has heart-shaped leaves!! looks like a clover though im nt sure if it is.. but rly looks like it!
found this pic when i googled for clover HAHA
anyway, this was what i ended up with after agronomy prac today.. drawings of a wax flower and oat plant
wax flower
oat plant
its time to start choosing which lessons to go to n which to pon =D
we dissected the brain today! took us the whole 2 hrs jus to get the brain out of the head n skull.. wahaha n it isn't bloody n squishy n disgusting at all. quite solid n small n cute!
abby, me, brain!
and went to watch GI JOE aft sch, was quite good! worth my $7! but the darth vader master-apprentice metallic face thing was rly... -.-"
im gonna ban myself frm biscuits for now... horrible sore throat!!
i might b moving out of my studio apartment next yr! =) nanako, elisa, hazel n i are thinking of applying for a 4-room apartment in SUV! or anywhere else good outside of SUV if theres any(im too lazy to find).. hehe! i hope they will b able to get a 4-room one for us!! then say gdbye to lonely nights! will have gd friends, elisa's an awesome cook so mayb we can hav better food also.. n they're my gymming kakis too..even btr rite! =D

HAHA did i forget to mention?? one third to half of the race was UPHILL!! omgz.. lucky is not the super steeep hilll kind but still!! hahaha nvm! im v happy w my 90 min timing =D awesome awesome.. aching now though! LOL

we are all aliens.. quirky n weird in our own little ways
zoning out on my foetal blood circulatory system notes..muching on countless packets of my beloved hello panda =)

the short one's called SPIKE, the red one's LOLLY and the aloe-vera-wannabe is still nameless for now
lols. my neighbour is playing on the guitar, which is rly quite nice.. i wish i had a muscial talent.. coz im v into piano songs lately, dont ask me why..

lol my blogs rotting
its been my best bday ever ever this yr! both in singapore & in sydney =)
watched my sisters keeper.. not v gd actually.. the plot is gd coz its based on jodi picoults novel which was awesome but the movie failed to capture the essence.. kinda trivialised the story i felt.. n there was little flow n lousy organisation.. lol
shall watch another movie on monday.. GI JOE maybe =) cuz now theres student discount for monday night movies.. $7 only!! XD
schools been fine n dandy.. cept this module, professional practice, which is basically just CRAP. total waste of time seriously..

when u are overseas for 4 mths at a go, living in a room that is not really your room, having to think about what to eat each day, having to do ur laundry, having to learn how to be happy alone, having to study-by study i mean study hard coz just passing is not enough, because my sch fees are 40,000 a yr, there is no way that just passing will suffice. and when u have to constantly tell urself to be brave and be strong n slowly count down the months till u go home, while telling ur mum that you're happy n u're fine coz u dun want her to worry.
when u deal with alll that, when u finally get to go home, you would not want to just unpack ur luggage for a few days, n start packing to go on a holiday again, when u're living out of ur suitcase, or rather, living with everything u brought from ur suitcase. if the main reason for gg on a holiday is to spend time with family, its really not v valid, coz we can spend time w family in singapore wat.. its just a matter of whether everyone bothers to make an effort or not. when we r holidaying, we dont rly interact that much anyway also! its jus taking family photos at different places. we can always go for a family picnic at botanic gardens or go play badminton on some wkend, or go watch a movie, climb bukit timah hill, ANYTHING! make popiah tgt, or sushi or stuff like that, its better wat.. if we actually really talk to each other..anytime, anyday is fine with me, coz i'm not the one who is always blowing off the family outing thing..im always there..jus that everyones too busy.
so dun blame me for not wanting to go overseas for holiday..if the purpose for holiday is for fun n relaxation then yes, thats more like it.. provided we rly have fun n we rly relax.. and dun blame me, at least not today, not tonight.

MY FAVOURITE THINGS
Rise and shine my dear, my darling,
Sunshine through the window, birds are calling.
Awake from your sweet, sweet slumber,
Your day awaits, with many new wonders.
Cactus plants on your windowsill come to life,
Growing with vigour, they greet you with feist.
Fluffy white clouds sail across the sky,
Look up, look out, as love comes cruising by.
Wear a bright coloured top and your favourite scent,
Matched with a smile and your ribbon headband.
Carry with you some laughter in your heart,
For a little joy would bring you some luck.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafts through the air,
Tempting, tantalising, drawing you close unaware.
A soy cappuccino in your left, an old book in your right,
Spend some time with yourself; blow some bubbles, fly a kite.
Sounds of the sea come together like a melody,
Notes played on the piano, a perfect rhapsody.
Dreamy weekend filled with my favourite things,
And peace fluttering by on white dove wings.

MOON
A pearl glowing luminous in the dark.
Beautiful. Tragically lonesome.
Tear drops glistening as i looked up.
Tragic. Lonesomely beautiful.
Disco ball spinning amidst parties of stars,
Glitzy, smoky, mysteriously enchanting.
Spotlight glaring down on an empty stage,
Naked, forsaken, enchantingly mysterious.
Outside my window, the night sky loomed.
Inky, somber, ominous, enigmatic.
DARK.
Dark against the pearl, my tears, disco ball, spotlight.
As i lust after the pearl so coveted,
I brush away tears undiscovered.
Drifting along under flashes of the disco ball,
I'm shrinking away from the spotlight where i used to belong.
My moon, so bright, perfectly round tonight.
My heart, heavy. Filled with thoughts of you inside.
Your heart, so light, perfectly sound this night.
Your moon, my moon. Our moon.
Your heart, is now her heart. Sweethearts.
My moon. I'll moon. Over you tonight.
my little tribute to the full moon tonight n the mysteries it brings. for what power the quiet night has, that tugs on heart strings, stirring emotions and letting loose inspiration.
MISSION P.C.
“Sssh!” The coast is clear! Sam and Joyce, heartbeats thumping with excitement, miniature drums beating furiously against their chests, hid behind the door of the room. Yet in the background of the heavy rhythm of the drums, there was the hint of laughter, a giggle perhaps, faintly chiming in the midst of all the commotion.
They were on an important mission. Top secret and highly classified. Stealth, speed and skill were the key factors. They had to initiate the machine- technical expertise was called for. Grasped tightly in their fists were the precious artefacts, which they could not afford to forget.
The matriarch had left the premises about 5 minutes ago and the girls had got into their positions without much haste. Silence filled the room, with the exception of that incessant drumbeat and the imperceptible flitter of glee. The curtains were left undrawn, blocking out much of the sunshine from the outside world. In the dim-lit room, the musky smell wafted by each time they inhaled. It smelt of old lacquered wood mixed with that distinctive smell of fresh paper, dappled with a pinch of a metallic scent- ink, they gathered. The machine sat solemnly at the other corner of the room, enticing, anticipating the girls’ next move. So calm and composed it seemed, patiently waiting for something to happen, like the calm before the storm.
The time for action had come. There was to be no delay. They had to get to the machine, activate it, fulfill their task and retreat, leaving no clues behind of their presence, all before the matriarch returned.
“On the count of 3! 1… 2… 3!” Joyce scurried over to the corner of the room, taking cover behind the machine as Sam followed behind, light-footed and nimble, after shutting the door behind her quietly and deftly turning the lock. Nobody had seen them. Good. For how dangerous and risky this was, with the door being slightly translucent. They had succeeded in securing the room. Now all they had to do was to complete their task and retreat.
The drumbeats faded slowly. Having done this before, Joyce took the lead, guiding and instructing Sam as she went along, activating the machine. With the push of a few specific buttons, a green light blinked on and the machine whirred to life. A cheeky grin smirked on their faces, still balled up in their fists were the artefacts. The giggle in the background began to grow louder, their hearts lighter.
Joyce gingerly lifted the lid of the machine, delicately placing the artefact from her hand onto the glistening panel, smoothening it out. She had to make sure the artefact was placed exactly within the specified margins or the plan would not work. After double-checking that everything was in place, she shut the lid with silent confidence. Sam stood close, observing carefully and learning the procedure for it would be her turn next. With a steady finality to it all, Joyce then pushed the big green button. The machine beeped and started to move, scanning the artefact across from one end to the other. Then, with a sudden burst of energy, it began to chug. Slowly at first, then picking up speed, its rhythm most peculiarly irregular yet hypnotic.
The giggle rose up like a bubble and broke as Joyce gave a little quip. It looks like her task was almost completed! Just as abruptly as it started, the chugging stopped and the machine gave out a loud beep, announcing that its job had been done. Breaking into a smile, lips curling upwards to reveal her teeth, Joyce reached out for the document that slid out onto the tray. As she laid her eyes on the result of her meticulous planning, rumbling laughter erupted from her little body as she held it up proudly with both hands, displaying it for Sam to see. Sam doubled over, clutching her stomach. She could hardly believe what she saw. It was like magic! Sam could not help but join in the throes of uncontrollable laughter and celebration of her sister’s success.
There, imprinted on the stark white sheet of paper, was the unmistakable, most humouring thing of all- the perfect print of her favourite snoopy panties!
Joyce and Sam laughed until tears began to form in their eyes as they repeated the process, Sam enthusiastically trying out her first shot at this.
Then came the screeching of the main gate and the grumble of the matriarch vehicle. She had returned. Each holding about 2-3 copies of warm and crisply printed paper in their hands, Sam and Joyce quickly snatched up their prized possessions and “certificates of achievements”, flipped the power switch to OFF, putting the machine back to sleep and dashed out of the study room. In a flash of motions, they quickly stashed the evidence in the secret compartment in their closet and rushed to the living room, plopped themselves on the sofa, turned on the television and acted like they had been watching Powerpuff Girls this whole time.
Still giggling intermittently at the outrageous adventure they just had, it was perfect timing as the main door clicked open and in stepped the matriarch. “Hi, Mom!” Both girls called in that coyly sweet voice of theirs, plastered on their faces were the “ innocent-puppy-eyed” expressions.
With a nod of approval, their mummy dearest carried her bag of groceries to the kitchen and Sam and Joyce let loose their infectious but final bout of laughter. With a high-five to seal the deal, there was nothing more exhilarating and satisfying than a task well planned and executed. What more was there to say, other than- MISSION PANTY-COPY ACCOMPLISHED!
